The University of Nebraka Lincoln will be using $8 million in federal stimulus money to improve a research lab where scientists are studying the behavior of viruses. The federal government will give the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center each an $8 million grant to help pay for renovations of their research facilities. UNL spokeswoman Kelly Bartling tells us that the Virology Center is one of their most productive and promising research programs.
“And it will really expand our capability to have lab support facilities, office and seminar space, and using modular laboratory planning approach in this building.”
UNMC says it will renovate a research area so scientists can find ways to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment.
