Former Omaha Royal Chris Lubanski tripled and homered against his former team to lead the Las Vegas 51s to a 6-5 win over the Royals at Cashman Field in Las Vegas. The Royals wrap up their eight game road trip tonight in hopes of making it a 4-4 trip. The 51s have taken two of the first three games in the series.
Lubanski’s homer came in the eighth off reliever Matt Herges giving the 51s a 6-4 lead. That was needed after Alex Gordon lined a 9th inning RBI single off closer Jeremy Accardo to score David Lough.
Las Vegas jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first off Royals starter Blake Johnson (0-1) with a J.P. Arencibia three-run homer and a Brian Dopirak sacrifice fly. Irving Falu answered with a second inning grand slam to tie the game at four. Falu went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, but the 51s took a 5-4 lead with a run in the bottom of the second.
