The Omaha Royals took the field last night at Rosenblatt Stadium trying to stop a three game losing streak. Thanks to a strong performance on the mound from Luis Mendoza, they would do just that and swat the Salt Lake Bees, 5-1.
The hitting star for the Royals would be Kila Ka’aihue who went 3-4 with two RBI’s. Omaha would also get a two run home run off the bat of Jai Miller.
Mendoza would go seven innings, giving up just one run on five hits. He is now 2-2 on the season.
Royals relievers Victor Marte and Greg Holland would each throw a scoreless inning of relief.
Omaha is now 19-20 on the season. With the win, they also improve their home mark to 7-13.
Game three of the four game series is tonight with Omaha pitcher Gaby Hernandez going for his fourth win of the season. Salt Lake will counter with Sean O’Sullivan.
First pitch is 7:05.
