Grand Island is the location of the new State Fair. That may not be much of a suprise to you, but there had been some question after a lawsuit made it all the way to the Nebraska Supreme Court. on Friday, the high court approved the move to Grand Island from Lincoln.
The Legislature approved the move back in 2008 that called for the fair to leave Lincoln, where it’d been for 110 years. The legal fight, nicknamed Plan B, focused on whether the law requiring the move created a special benefit for some of the groups and people involved in the plan. Those include the group that owns Fonner Park in Grand Island and the University of Nebraska.
Roger Yant, who filed the suit, says lawmakers didn’t consider other options besides Grand Island. The Supreme Court rejected those arguments.
