While President Obama pushes House members to sign his Jobs Bill immediately, 2nd District Congressman Lee Terry of Omaha says “not so fast”.
“First of all it is adding 140-billion dollars in new debt. If you look at the jobs bill, it is an extension of unemployment, extension of COBRA. There is nothing in here that really saves jobs. There is some tax credit extenders that goes away if it is not passed but unfortunately it is a very, very small part of this overall bill.”
Congressman Terry says the money slated for this program does not save or create jobs.
“If you are going to stimulate the economy, stimulating government programs isn’t going to get us there. We have to do things like empower companies instead of over regulating them if they become successful.”
Congressman Terry says there is another item that is awaiting House members once they return from their Memorial Day holiday.
“A supplemental that not only helps our military operations around the world but will either create or save jobs. It is interesting that the only jobs that will be saved belong to government union workers so those that have proven their loyalty to the administration will get help. If you are A-political, you are just screwed.”
