The Husker football team has picked up two recruits in the last two days. Four star cornerback Tevin Mitchel wants to play on the Blackshirts, passing up offers from Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas A & M. Yesterday junior college receiver Stanley Jean-Baptise committed to NU. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound receiver will join the program this July.
Jon Nyatawa of the Omaha World Herald shares an interesting story on Mitchel, who joined his high school football team on a whim with a buddy of his just to keep himself occupied. He ended up turning into one of the nation’s most sought after DBs.
Jean-Baptiste redshirted last season at Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College after signing with Colorado in 2009. He didn’t make it through the NCAA Clearinghouse in time to enroll at CU. So he went to Fort Scott, joining fellow NU recruits Jermarcus Hardrick and Lavonte David.
