The Wayne State College softball team finished ranked 14th in the final NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 poll. It’s the highest-ever ranking for a Wildcat softball team.
WSC ended the regular season ranked 17th and won the NCAA Central Regional Tournament, advancing to the Super Regionals before falling to Metro State. Wayne State finished the 2010 season with a 43-14 record, breaking last year’s record (41) for wins in a season. The Wildcats lose just one senior, center fielder Amy Sandstrom, to graduation.
The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks finished 23rd in the final polls with a record of 50-13, one of just 12 teams in the top 25 with 50 or more wins.
