Full body scanners are now in use at Eppley Airfield in Omaha. Mike Kudlacz is the Federal Security Director at Eppley Airfield and says they started using the scanner Tuesday morning.
The scan only takes a few seconds and the image of the passenger is similar to a fuzzy chalk drawing so it doesn’t reveal who the individual is but will reveal what he or she has on the body. The officer viewing the image sits in a remote room and does not see the passengers who are in line.
The scan is voluntary and passengers can opt for the metal detector and pat down. One body scanner is in use and another will be installed soon.
