The Lincoln Saltdogs won a wild one against St. Paul on Tuesday, beating the Saints 15-12 at Haymarket Park. St. Paul blew a five-run lead and Lincoln blew a four-run lead, but the Saltdogs pulled it out in the bottom of the seventh.
Trailing 12-11, Juan Richardson led off with a walk and took second on a groundout. Roberto Alvarez hit a weak grounder to pitcher Hunter Davis, who threw the ball away, allowing Richardson to score the tying run. Alvarez was caught stealing, but Brandon Jones walked, setting up Gavin Dickey, who doubled to deep left-center off of Jonathan Plefka (2-1) and put the Saltdogs ahead for good. Lincoln added to its lead on a two-run single by Shawn McGill in the eighth inning, and Chris Thompson pitched around a double and a walk in the ninth to earn his tenth save.
The two teams play game two of their three-game series Wednesday night at 7:05. Right-hander Tim Brown will take the mound for the Saltdogs.
