Brendan Katin’s two-run homer in the tenth inning gave he Nashville Sounds a 6-4 win over the Omaha Royals Thursday night at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Royals rallied to tie the game at 4-4 in the eighth, only to lose for the sixth time in their last seven games.
Katin blasted Josh Rupe’s 2-1 delivery over the wall in left field for his sixth home run in just 14 games with the Sounds. Rupe had allowed just one unearned run in 18 innings over his first ten Triple-A relief outings this year.
Omaha tied the game in the eighth, when Nashville reliever Brandon Kintzler gave up a Scott Thorman two-out, pinch-hit RBI single.
Alex Gordon hit a two run homer in the first-inning, his 10th of the season. He’s hitting .370. Rick Ankiel played center field and went 0 for 3 with a run scored. He’s 0 for 7 in two rehabe games. A scary moment for Omaha pitcher Philip Humber who was hit in the face by a sixth-inning line drive and was taken to the hospital with injuries to his mouth.
