Omaha’s four homeruns were not enough as a late rally fell short as the Royals lost 8-7 decision to the Albuquerque Isotopes in the first game of 17-game roadtrip.
Down 8-3 in the sixth inning, Jordan Parraz hit a two run homer, his second of the game off Albuquerque starter Alberto Bastardo, who got the win in his first Triple-A start. Alex Gordon, who went 4-for-5 to raise his batting average to .373, and Kila Ka’aihue stroked back-to-back, two-out doubles in the seventh to cut the Isotopes lead to 8-6. Jai Miller led off the eighth by blasting the last of the Royals four homers to make it an 8-7 game.
Things did not fare as well for lefthander Everett Teaford (0-1), just promoted from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, allowed eight hits and seven runs to suffer the loss in his first Triple-A start.
