The Omaha Royals blew an eight run lead, but still won 15-12 in a wild eleven inning affair over the Albuquerque Isotopes. The two teams split the four-game series.
The Royals took a big lead in the sixth, sending eleven men to the plate, scoring seven times to build an 11-3 lead. Albuquerque chipped away by scoring two in the sixth and five in the eighth to cut the Royals lead to 11-10.
In the bottom of the ninth, Isotopes third basemen Russ Mitchell hit a game-tying homer off reliever Josh Rupe. In the top of the eleventh, the Royals had five consecutive hits off Isotope reliever Scott Dohmann (0-2) to score four runs to take a 15-11 lead.
The Isotopes scored a run in the bottom of the eleventh and had the bases loaded when Prentice Redman hit a deep fly ball to left-center field caught by Jai Miller, ending the game four hours and twenty nine minutes after it started.
The Royals travel to Round Round, Texas to begin a four-game series with the Express, top farm club of the Houston Astros. Philip Humber (4-4) will duel against former O-Royal Andy Van Hekken (2-4) with first pitch at 7:05 CDT.
