Same story different location for the Omaha Royals last night as they score four runs in the 11th inning to come away with a 5-1 win over the Round Rock Express. With the win, and a loss by Memphis, the Royals find themselves in first place in the American Conference North.
Designated hitter Scott Thorman broke the 1-1 tie with solo shot off former Royal Brad Thompson. Later in the 11th, Cody Clark would blast a three-run shot off of Thompson to push the lead to 5-1.
Reliever Matt Herges would throw two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Royals starting pitcher Philip Humber, playing for the first time since taking a line drive off the face that required 18 stitches, threw seven innings, allowing just three hits and one run.
The Royals are now 3-2 on their current road trip, and will continue their four-game series with the Express tonight. Right-hander Manauris Baez comes up from Class-A Wilmington to make his Triple-A debut for Omaha against former Royal Shane Loux.
First pitch at 7:05.
