The Lincoln Saltdogs needed one at-bat to finish off their suspended game for a 4-3 win in 10 innings. Then in the scheduled game for Wednesday, came up with a 7-6 win to improve to 23-14 on the season.
Tuesday’s game was suspended because of lightning and rain. When play continued, Phil Hawke was the first man to bat, and with Albenis Machado running on a 1-2 pitch, Hawke lined pitch into the left-field corner scoring Machado with the game winning run.
In the next game, Lincoln as able to hold off the Pheasants who started chipping away at a quick 5-0 Lincoln lead. Pheasants starter Brian Flores (1-3) allowed three in the first inning, on a sacrifice fly by Phil Hawke and a two-run home run by Argelis Nunez. Flores retired the side in order in the second, but Hawke scored on an error in the third, and Juan Richardson added an RBI single for a five-run advantage.
Juan Richardson cracked another solo homer in the bottom of the fifth, making the score 7-3, but the Pheasants chased Chris Britton with three runs in the top of the sixth. The Saltdogs bullpen, held the lead. Ben Paxton tossed two scoreless innings, Adam Daniels retired all four batters he faced, and Chris Thompson got the final two outs to earn his 13th save.
