Every game at the College World Series has so much riding on it, but this game was fun to watch especially after the pressure started building in the late innings.
Brady Thomas singled in the winning run in the bottom of 12th inning to give South Carolina a 3-2 win and eliminate Oklahoma from the 2010 College World Series Thursday night.
The Gamecocks (50-16) were down to their last strike against closer OU Ryan Duke when Jackie Bradley’s single to right brought in Robert Beary from second to tie the game at 2-2.
Duke then walked Jeffery Jones before Brady Thomas drove his first pitch into center field, scoring Bradley from second and setting up a Friday night battle with in-state rival Clemson at 8 pm Omaha time.
Oklahoma (50-18) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 12th on Tyler Ogle’s homer off Ethan Carter.
The Gamecocks would have to beat Clemson twice to reach next week’s championship round. Before the USC-Clemson game, TCU will take on UCLA with the Horned Frogs needing two wins to advance. The Bruins beat TCU on Monday, 6-3.
