Grand Island native and former Husker golfer JC Stevenson held off Katie Keiser to defend her title in the Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Wild Horse in Gothenburg. Stevenson was 11 over for the 54 hole event, and becomes one of just four three time winners of this event.
Stevenson finished three shots ahead of of Keiser, a junior at Winthrop, and six shots in front of McKayla Anderson, who will golf at McNeese State. Stevenson, who won her first Stroke Play Championship in 2006, joined Cathy Curry, Sarah Sasse and Susan Marchese as the only three-time winners in the history of the event.
Curry was a three-time champion, Sasse won five titles and Marchese has a record 10 wins.
