On Sunday, major league baseball announced the rosters for the All-Star game. Royals’ closer Joakim Soria, the lone Royals representative, could be pitching to his former catcher John Buck in the late innings. The ex-Royals catcher, a career .239 hitter is batting .274 with 13 homers for Toronto. He was named as a reserve to the AL squad. Soria has saved 23 of 25 games this season and has 40 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.
Ubaldo Jimenez, the Rockies starting pitcher, who is 14-1 has a good chance to start for the National League. In 100 starts, Jimenez is 45 and 29 for his career and has really come into his own this year. His shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was named as a reserve. He’s hitting .306 with just nine homers and 34 RBIs.
