The Lincoln Saltdogs dropped the opening game of the season’s second half losing 8-3 at Sioux City on Tuesday. The Explorers cut into the Lincoln lead and took control in the fifth inning chasing starter Jim Paduch who falls to 4-4.
Paduch gave up four straight hits and three runs in the fifth inning, giving Sioux City a 4-2 lead. Chris Cullen came on and gave up for three more runs in the sixth.
Argelis Nunez had a solo home run, his eighth of the season. Rafael Alvarez had an RBI double, as Nunez finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBI. Alvarez ended up 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Albenis Machado went 1-for-2 and scored a run.
The two teams play game two of their three-game series Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Noel Baca will make the start for Lincoln.
