The Lincoln Saltdogs dropped their second straight game at Sioux City on Wednesday, losing 5-4. Lincoln falls to 0-2 in the second half of the American Association.
For the second straight night, the Saltdogs took an early 2-0 lead but couldn’t hold it. Sioux City scored a run in the third inning against Lincoln starter Noel Baca (0-3), and then took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth. The Explorers chased Baca with a pair of runs in the sixth. Lincoln got a run back in the eighth, and put the tying run on second base with one out in the ninth, but David Trahan pitched out of the jam to earn his first save.
Argelis Nunez went 1-for-2 with two walks while driving in runs in both the first and fifth innings, and scoring a run in the eighth. Shawn McGill went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI, hitting an RBI single in the first and a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
The two teams play the finale of their three-game series Thursday night at 7:05pm. John James will make the start for Lincoln.
