A farewell ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 9 AM for a departing Nebraska National Guard unit.
About 300 members of the Lincoln-based unit are shipping out for what’s expected to be a one-year mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They’re with the 67th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade and the 1167th Brigade Support Company.
About half of the soldiers have already been deployed to the Persian Gulf at least once before.
The farewell ceremony will be held at Lincoln’s Seacrest Field. The list of attendees includes Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy and Guard Brigadier General Judd Lyons.
