A portion of Webster Street in Omaha is being renamed “Adam Herold” Street. Specialist Adam Herold was killed in action in June of 2007 in Iraq. Senator Gwen Howard, who represents Omaha’s District 9, started the project and helped with the proposal. She also became a close friend with Adam’s parents. Lance and Debbie Herold who say the portion being renamed after their son is in front of his old elementary school, St. Cecilia Grade school.
The street dedication ceremony is Saturday, at 2:30 at 40th and Webster. St. Cecilia Grade School is also holding a benefit this Sunday in memory of Adam. Funds will be split between the school and “Homes for our Troops,” a nonprofit organization that builds adapted homes for veterans who were seriously injured or impaired.
