The Lincoln Saltdogs handled the Wichita Wingnuts 8-1 as Saltdogs’ starter Jim Paduch (6-4) continued his dominance over the Wingnuts by going seven scoreless innings.
Paduch walked three, but struck out five and gave up just six hits.
Lincoln, jumped on Wichita starter Luke Massetti (4-6) early. A Juan Camacho RBI single scored the first run of the game, and Juan Richardson followed with a long three-run home run to left. In the third inning, Phil Hawke hit his first triple of the year and scored on a sacrifice fly by Argellis Nunez. Nunez then capped the Lincoln scoring in the fifth with a three-run homer of his own. Massetti went on to pitch a complete game despite giving up eight runs on nine hits. Wichita scored its only run on a throwing error in the top of the ninth.
Nunez finished his night 2-for-4 with his 12th home run and four RBI. Rafael Alvarez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Richardson’s home run was his fifth of the season.
The two teams play game the finale of their three-game series Thursday night at 7:05pm.
