Escaped Lincoln Regional Center patient Shane Tilley is back in custody after a nearly eight hour search of southwest Lincoln. KLIN radio reports Tilley was found not far from the Center just before 6:00 Wednesday night. He had escaped when he ran from therapists during a supervised walk on the Regional Center grounds. State Patrol, Lincoln Police and Lancaster County Sheriffs were all involved in the search which included motorists checkpoints and helicopters.
Tilley was charged in 2006 with first degree murder in the death of Andy Lubben. Tilley stabbed Lubben to death after having taken 32 Coricidin pills, smoking pot and drinking alcohol. Psychiatrists said the combination brought on a psychosis.
Tilley was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2007 and committed to treatment at the Regional Center. He was set for an annual review next month. His attorney had said his client was ready to leave the regional center and move to a treatment center.
