Papillion-La Vista South defeated Kearney 7-3 on Saturday at Kearney Memorial Field to win the Class A State American Legion baseball championship. Papillion-LVS will now advance to Texas for regional play. Kearney will move onto Missouri.
Papillion LVS jumped out to a 7-0 lead scoring twice in the second, and twice in fourth despite leaving the bases loaded. Beau Supnchick hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In Class B action, Gering beat Central City 16-5, thanks to a six-run fourth and eight-run seventh. Holdrege eliminated Schuyler 17-3. Gretna 9-3 winners over Dwight/Valparaiso and Nebraska City limited Omaha Roncalli to just two hits in a 3-0 win.
In Class C play, Mt. Michael defeated David City 12-2 and Creighton shutout Alma 6-0 with both David City and Alma being eliminated. In the other game, Wakefield won a see-saw battle with St. Paul 8-5.
