Nebraska-Omaha was selected as number two in the MIAA coaches poll, while Washburn was tabbed No. 2 in the media poll. UNO totaled 65 points in the coaches poll, while WU received 259 points in the media poll. Omaha was voted No. 4 in the media poll with 236 points, and Washburn was selected No. 3 in the coaches poll with one first-place vote and 62 points.
The Mavericks will enter their second season in the MIAA where they went 7-5 overall, but an impressive 6-3 record in conference play finishing with two wins at the end of the regular season. In the post-season Kanza Bowl, UNO lost 31-25 to West Texas A & M.
