Royals utility player Ed Lucas had three hits, including a pair of homers, and drove in four runs as the Omaha Royals handed an 11-3 loss to the Memphis Redbirds.
Lucas is now hitting .341, belted his first homer leading off the top of the fifth against Memphis starter Ryan Kulik (1-2) to give the Royals the lead, 2-1. Later in the same inning, catcher Lucas May hit his second homer in three games as an Omaha Royal, ending Kulik’s night.
Kulik walked seven hitters in 4.2 innings, matching a Redbirds record. Memphis pitcher walked ten and hit two Royal batters. Omaha’s starting pitcher Luis Mendoza (6-8) pitched six innings to get the win.
