Democratic U.S. Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska has voted for cloture on an Education Jobs and Medicaid Funding bill. That means the bill can receive further debate and get to an up or down vote.
“It’s steers $10 billion for states to use exclusively for education jobs funding. The state of Nebraska stands to receive $59 million dollars which will be help to retain an estimated one thousand teacher positions.”
Nelson says the bill would provide money to school districts so they don’t have to look at raising property taxes to retain teachers. The bill also includes $69 million dollars in additional federal funding for Nebraska to use to continue to help those that receive Medicaid.
