Two departments in two states are joining efforts in searching for a suspected serial rapist.
“The similarities, the female victims have been walking in either the northeast or southeast parts of the city. The assaults have occurred in the late afternoon or early morning hours.”
Omaha Police Officer Michael Pecha (PECK-a) says the suspect also abducted the victims in the same manner.
“In each of these cases, the suspect was armed and threatened the victim before forcing them into his vehicle and taking them to secluded areas.”
Pottawattamie County, Iowa Sheriff Jeff Danker says they are also working on this case because three of the four victims were taken to rural areas near Council Bluffs and assaulted. He says they have taken DNA samples and have come up with a match.
“They are going to be sending us the information that verifies two are related.”
Sheriff Danker says the same man assaulted two of the victims.
“The assault had occurred on August 1st of 09 and the one that occurred on June 10th of 2010 are related.”
Sheriff Danker says they were not able to obtain sufficient DNA evidence to match and he is not sure about the case in Omaha but will be making the test results available to investigators.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 45 years of age, 5’6″ and weighs from 200 to 250 pounds with a potbelly. He is driving an older model four door red vehicle.
