The Omaha Royals pulled off a walk-off win as Mike Moustakas’ drove in the winning run with a shot to the warning track in center field to give Omaha a 4-3 win over Tacoma in 12 innings. The Royals left a season-high 19 runners stranded on base.
Moustakas’ game-winning hit scored Marc Maddox, who drew a leadoff walk from Mumba Rivera (0-1), and advanced to second on a bunt and moved to third on a single from David Lough. Moustakas, who had been 1-for-6 on the night and 3-for-23 on the homestand came through with the big hit.
Matt Herges (5-3), who was activated from the disabled list shortly before the game, got the win. The veteran righty gave up two singles and a walk in the top of the 12th to load the bases with two outs, but escaped the jam. The Rainiers only stranded five runners through the first ten innings, but left five more on base over the final two.
