The Creighton volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference. It makes it the seventh straight season the Jays have earned a top-five prediction.
Defending regular-season and tournament champion Northern Iowa received all 10 first place votes to earn the preseason’s top pick. UNI is the league’s first unanimous choice since the Panthers were picked to win across the board in the 2003 season.
Missouri State was picked second with 87 points, just ahead of third-place Wichita State (80). Trailing fourth-place Creighton (63) was Drake (61). Rounding out the bottom half of the poll were sixth-place Southern Illinois (56), Illinois State (38), Evansville (31), Indiana State (19) and Bradley (16).
Creighton returns four starters and 10 letter winners from last year’s team that tied for fourth in the MVC with a 10-8 record. The team opens its season with the Blue-White scrimmage on Saturday, August 21st at 6:30 pm. CU then opens the regular-season by playing host to the Bluejay Invitational, Aug. 28-29.
