An employee in the Lancaster County Treasurer’s office has been arrested in connection with embezzlement.
Lincoln Police Captain David Beggs tells KLIN News, Paula Folts (54) of Milford was a motor vehicle coordinator at the motor vehicle office on North 46th Street in Lincoln.
“The investigation revealed that after persons had paid their taxes on their vehicles the employee was manually changing the amounts that were reported as purchase prices on vehicles, therefore reflected that they had paid less for the vehicle and paid less taxes,” Beggs said.
Beggs says that Folts is accused of pocketing the difference during a period from June 29th to August 2nd of this year. The total loss for the County was $4,900.
Folts had worked for the treasurer’s office for 29 years. She has been lodged in jail on a charge of Theft by Deception.
