U.S. Congressman Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska is not against the states getting involved in enforcing immigration law. He says the Federal Government has the right to ask states and local municipalities to help enforce immigration laws.
“When the administration is suing Arizona over the spirit of trying to enforce Federal immigration law versus not suing cities that are called sanctuary cities who willfully violate federal immigration laws, there’s a certain inconsistency there and that’s a problem.
Fortenberry has said he supports changes to the Constitution that would stop so called anchor babies. That’s when illegal immigrants come to America and have a child who is given automatic citizenship under the Constitution. He thinks a few CEO’s going to jail may help the problem of illegal immigration.
