Former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia laughed when asked if he arrived in Council Bluffs, Iowa in a private jet just like Brett Favre arrived in Minnesota. Garcia said his commercial flight was just fine and doesn’t expect a whole lot of attention when he agreed to sign with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
The UFL is in its second season and the Omaha franchise is in its first year. Garcia was a four-time Pro Bowl selection during his NFL career with San Francisco, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. He still has a passion to the play the game and that’s why he wants to come to Omaha to play. At a pep rally/news conference for the team, Garcia said, “I know that the state of Nebraska has a great passion for football and I can already see that the people of Omaha have fully embraced the Nighthawks. I still have the drive, commitment, and ability to play this game at the highest level and one thing that I definitely share with the people of Omaha is a passion for the game.”
Omaha begins their season on September 25th.
