“It’s a great celebration of our number one industry, agriculture. But, it’s not just agriculture, there are other businesses that are represented there too. I think as we head into harvest we have a lot to be grateful celebrate for even with our challenges and I think the State Fair is a great way to celebrate the many blessings that we do have and the opportunities for the future.”
Smith is happy that so many more people will be coming to the 3rd congressional district to be at The State Fair.
“Our state is big! I mean the 3rd district of Nebraska is 65,000 square miles so we know that the population is a little more spread out in rural Nebraska, but that’s good, that’s what makes us productive in agriculture in other ways and so I think the State Fair is another great representation of things that we can really celebrate.”
Congressman Smith will be part of a press conference to kick off the State Fair.
“It’s a great time to come out and show support for the new venue, but more than that I think it’s a great time of year to focus on the productivity of the past year. That’s why we can celebrate the harvest, now we’ve had good moisture, but not that long ago we’ve had record yields even amidst drought and that’s thanks to the very innovative practices of farmers and ranchers and being able to be productive and hopefully the Government won’t get in the way, because when the Government gets in the way, that drives up the cost of doing business and certainly stifles that innovation.”
