The Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League worked out former Ohio State running back star Maurice Clarett. Clarett ran into trouble after leading Ohio State to the 2002 national championship. He served 3½ years in prison for having a hidden gun and holding up two people outside a Columbus bar. Team officials will make a decision on Clarett today.
Nighthawks GM Rick Mueller, coach Jeff Jagodzinski and UFL commissioner Michael Huyghue will meet to discuss whether it is in the best interest of the team and the five team league to give Clarett a chance to make a comeback in the minor league.
Clarett is 26 years old and had a brief tryout with Denver in the NFL before getting cut, where he was taken with the last pick of the third round in the 2005 NFL draft.
