Bo Pelini and the players meet with the media today at 11am for their first press conference to talk about Western Kentucky. We’ll have that posted on NebraskaRadioNetwork.com once it’s complete. On today’s report we talk about a Lincoln native who is getting a scholarship…Austin Cassidy.
He’s a 6’1, 210 pound junior from Lincoln Southwest. Cassidy was a big special teams player last year for the Huskers on punt and kickoff coverages for a unit that ranked 13th in the nation in kickoff coverage. With both starting safeties graduating, Cassidy saw his playing time increase in nickel coverages, where the Huskers bring in five defensive backs. Cassidy also made the Big 12 Commissioner’s spring and fall honor roll three times.
Other news covered on the Big Red Report. The NFL is looking at film of former Husker Ndamukong Suh after rough play, and the Huskers toughest competition in the Big 12 North took a big hit yesterday when one of their star players was suspended indefinitely.
