The Royals scored their first run thanks to a fielding error by Round Rock shortstop Edwin Maysonet, the first of three errors in the game. The Royals scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Mike Moustakas drove in a run in the third with a single, extending his hitting streak to six games and giving him 21 RBI during the streak. The Royals added two more runs in the fourth.
