Damage from Monday’s storms that roared through eastern Nebraska is expected to be in the millions. Terry Lundsvork with the National Weather Service Office in Valley says Ithaca was hit hard. Lundsvork says almost every house had windows on the north side knocked out and there is lots of limb and tree damage.
The UNL Ag Research Center in Mead was also hit hard with windows out, siding damaged and a lot of crop damage.
Assessment teams were sent to see if there was any tornadic activity but officials say it was just a strong thunderstorm with straight line winds.
Hail was reported in some areas as large as tennis balls. About one-and-a-half million dollars in damage was done to crops, buildings and equipment.
