The Nebraska-Omaha football team is looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first two home games of the season. Saturday begins Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play when defending national champion Northwest Missouri State (0-1, 0-0 MIAA) visits Omaha. Kickoff is slated for 6:20 p.m.
The Mavericks own an all-time series lead of 11-10-1 against the Bearcats, but Northwest has won the last two games by a combined total of 79-27. UNO’s last win was in 2007 with a 25-21 win at home.
The Bearcats enter Saturday’s game ranked No. 7 in both the AFCA Poll and D2Fottball.com polls after beginning the season ranked No. 1 in both polls. Northwest is 7-4 against UNO under head coach Mel Tjeerdsma and 2-4 at Caniglia Field. The Bearcats have not scored less than 21 points against the Mavericks in their last eight meetings. Northwest has not lost back-to-back games during the regular season since 2001.
