Vice President Joe Biden will be coming to Omaha later this month to raise money for Tom White’s congressional bid. White is challenging incumbent Republican Lee Terry for the 2nd district congressional seat.
“Vice President Cheney came out here for Lee Terry some years back and he had House Minority Leader John Bainer a few weeks ago. I think it is great for Nebraska issues to be put on the forefront of a national debate like that.”
Ian Russell is White’s campaign manager and says Biden’s appearance highlights the importance of this race.
“This week the Washington Post listed our race as one of the top 25 races to watch in the country because what they are is seeing is this race defines the national trend. There is a real anti-incumbent feeling in the air right now.”
Russell says anytime Washington pays attention to Nebraska is a good thing for the state and its residents.
“It is an honor to have a vice president visit Nebraska and Tom is looking forward to talking to him about creating jobs and reducing the deficit.”
Biden and White will attend a fundraising event at Field Club on September 30th. Details of the visit have not yet been released.
