Two of our Nebraska teams took it hard on the chin this week to nationally ranked teams that are in the Top 10. Meanwhile, Chadron State came away with an impressive win backed by a solid run game.
For just the second time since Pat Behrns took over the UNO football program, have the Mavericks started out 0-3. On Saturday, they lost their third straight home game falling to rival and conference foe Northwest Missouri State 58-23. The Bearcats rolled to a 44-20 half time lead as the 7th ranked team from just down the road of Omaha won their third straight meeting between these two teams.
2nd ranked Minnesota Duluth turned three Wayne State turnovers into 21 points as their top running back, Isaac Odim, rushed for 170 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 42-10 win over the #18 Wildcats.
In Chadron State’s College Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener, redshirt freshman Glen Clinton rushed for 169 yards and one touchdown to lead the Eagles to a 40-7 victory over Western State. Despite the win, there is still some work to be done for the Eagles. They committed 11 penalties and only scored two touchdowns in seven red zone chances, while Western State managed nine first downs and 138 total yards.
