There is a plan to get people who qualify for food stamps involved. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is one of eight state agencies getting federal dollars focused on delivering healthy foods to those who need it the most. The $800,000 grant will focus on rural Nebraskans. Agency partners will provide outreach to educate people about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and where to access food pantries. The grant will also implement online verification of SNAP applications which DHHS says will save time and money.
