The University of Nebraska and the Big 12 worked out a settlement with regards to NU leaving the conference early for the Big Ten. Under the Big 12 bylaws, the conference wanted to hold $19.4 million for leaving, instead that negotiated amount is $9.255 million and that exit fee can be reduced to $8.755 million if the Cornhuskers are one of the two Big 12 teams to play in a BCS bowl game this season. In addition, Colorado plans to leave for the Pac-10 on June 30 of next year and have $6.863 million withheld from its conference revenue. Therefore the Big 12 will have just ten teams next season.
Now you as a fan, even myself, we’re looking at this game against South Dakota State and saying easy win, 4-0 let’s get ready for conference play, but you don’t need to look any further than the Big 12 conference to know that this FCS teams can come in and pull off shockers. Look at KU losing 6-3 to North Dakota State. Or how about 13th ranked Virginia Tech getting beat by James Madison 21-16. Bo Pelini says these teams come in with a lot of motivation.
