Governor Dave Heineman has released his decision regarding drinking in State Parks. Drinking will be allowed at all state parks except for Lake McConaughy and wildlife refuge areas where hunting is taking place. Games and Parks director Rex Amack will have the authority to revoke drinking privileges at any time.
“I think it’s more of a fairness issue, it’s not an issue where I think we will get lots more visitors, but I do know this we have people that do not attend Nebraska State Parks because of it.
Drinking will be banned from 10pm to 6am and all alcohol containers must be under a gallon in size. That will prevent any Keggers from taking place. The new law takes effect January 1st.
