The Huskers came into this game on Saturday against South Dakota State as heavy favorites and still came out of the game 4-0, but were left kind of scratching their heads as to why they only managed a 17-3 win over the Jackrabbits. Let’s be honest, as you’ll hear from back up quarterback Cody Green on how quiet things were on the sideline, it has to be tough to get up for a game against South Dakota State.
Green came in to replace Taylor Martinez who did not play well for the first time in four games. Two interceptions, fumbled the first snap of the game. Bo Pelini didn’t hesitate when it came to pulling his freshmen quarterback.
At least the Blackshirt defense came up with a big game. On 9 of the Jackrabbits 12 offensive possessions, the Huskers held them to four plays or less, twice turning the ball over on downs, twice coming up with interceptions in the fourth quarter and another possession that ended with a fumble. Was Pelini impressed?
