Nebraska legislators have passed a law that bans abortions after 20 weeks. Now, U.S. Senator Mike Johanns has introduced The Unborn Child Pain Awareness act. In the case of an abortion the mother would be told the the fetus can feel pain after 20 weeks and she would be able to request anesthesia for the baby.
“This I would suggest is not an abortion issue, it should transcend the common divide between pro life and pro choice, this is about protecting babies that do feel real pain.”
Several states have passed laws similar to Johanns bill after science revealed the pain that babies can feel at 20 weeks.
