Day one of the girls’ softball double elimination tournament is in the books in Hastings. Among the highlights from Wednesday’s softball tournament in Hastings.
In Class C, Cass County Central, a team made up of players from Louisville and Weeping Water beat the number one seeded Wayne 2-1. It was just the fourth time in tournament history the number one seed lost a first round game, then Wayne lost to Ashland-Greenwood 7-3, becoming the only top seed in history to be knocked out the first day.
In Class B, #1 seed Beatrice beat Holdrege 9-0, a team that Beatrice lost to earlier in the season for one of their three losses on the season.
In Class A, Papillion LV South topped Grand Island 12-0. Micael Whitney threw a one hitter. Second round games get started at 10am.
