State Officials gathered in York to Celebrate Radio Network Completion
Gov. Dave Heineman and other officials are celebrating the completion of the third segment of a new Statewide Radio Network developed for state and local public safety agencies.
“It’s a statewide radio system that will not only be utilized by NPPD, but the Nebraska State Patrol, Game and Parks, Department of Roads, Emergency Management. It will be a system that will be able to utilize making calls between Falls City all the way up to Chadron.”
Mike Becker, NPPD Media Relations Specialist.
“it allows our crews to be able to talk to each other, utilize the manpower a little bit better, especially when we have emergency situations following snow storms, high winds, tornadoes….It allows us at the same time to connect up with The State Patrol and other agencies in this type of emergency.”
The network is being launched in four phases. The western section was activated last September and Phase II activated in March. Phase III includes a significant portion of central and eastern Nebraska. The event will be held at the NPPD Operations Center in York.
