State Senator Heath Mello has written a letter to Attorney General Jon Bruning after suspecting that the Department of Health and Human services is not following the law. Mello says the law is being violated by HHS as they move to privatize the Child Welfare system.
“The whole intent of this is really to focus on the children that are at risk right now if we don’t slow down this process and make sure DHHS follow all letters of the law regarding how they’re trying to privatize these services.”
Mello accuses DHHS of rushing to get the services privatized before the legislature convenes in January. The law requires that the Director of the Department of Administrative services be consulted before the privitization is done.
