One of the biggest issues during the mid-Term Election for the city of Hastings was the half cent sales tax issue. The half cent sales tax has been approved by voters in the city of Hastings with 69% of the votes for the half-cent sales tax issue and 31% voting against. One of the organizers who put the issue on the ballot Becky Sullivan says their group was excited about the support they received.
She said that during the entire process they received little negative feedback and that showed on the results last night.
The half cent sales tax increase will go to fund projects for street repair, Duncan Field and the Hastings Public Library.
